11 October 2017 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | ||
Monster in Morocco awaits SkyCaddie PGA Pro-Captain finalists HADDENHAM, BUCKS, UK – After ten Regional Qualifiers The SkyCaddie PGA Pro-Captain Challenge in association with Golfplan is sending twenty golfers to Morocco in November to compete in the Grand Final. Their destination is Morocco’s longest golf course – the fearsome Mazagan Gary Player Championship Course at the Mazagan Beach Resort in Casablanca, which measures a muscular 7,484 yards from the tombstones. Earlier this year two-person pro-captain teams from the ten following golf clubs each won a SkyCaddie PGA Regional Qualifier: Airdrie GC, Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, Brokenhurst Manor GC, Cottesmore GC, Dundalk GC, Holme Hall GC, Leigh GC, Moor Hall GC, Muswell Hill GC and Richmond GC. The winners will soon all be Morocco-bound to compete for the SkyCaddie PGA Pro-Captain trophy in the 36-hole Grand Final on November 21st and 22nd. Given the 7,000+ yard challenge which awaits them, listen out for the sound of Pros and particularly Club Captains bashing countless golf balls on the range, searching for an extra twenty yards with the driver, at those ten qualifying golf clubs throughout October and November. Headline sponsors SkyCaddie provided a top-of-the-range SkyCaddie Touch GPS unit to competitors at each Regional Qualifier. Each Touch was pre-loaded with exact distances to the day’s pins, and SkyCaddie will make the same service available at the Grand Final in November – pre-loading each day’s exact pin locations onto the Touch, which offers sub-yard accuracy. “SkyCaddie’s ‘Pin Position’ feature proved extremely popular during the Regionals” said James Holmes, SkyCaddie’s UK & European Sales Manager. “When competitors realised that a SkyCaddie GPS can now give them an exact yardage to the pin from anywhere on the hole – including blind spots and through the trees – many used the SkyCaddie throughout their round, instead of their normal laser. “The pre-loaded SkyCaddies sped up their decision-making and gave them info which they could not get on a laser, such as distance to the back of the green over the pin.” Also at each Regional Qualifier was a SkyTrak golf launch monitor / simulator, set up in hole-in-one challenge mode. At stake was a SkyTrak system worth almost £2,000 – but nobody hit the ace, so the SkyTrak prize remains as yet unclaimed. But the twenty Grand Final competitors will each have the chance to bag a SkyTrak for themselves in Morocco, as the SkyTrak hole-in-one contest will be set up once again at the Mazagan Beach Resort. “We have thoroughly enjoyed our first year as headline sponsors of the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge, which is one of the PGA’s most popular annual events” said James Holmes. “It has given us the opportunity to put a new SkyCaddie GPS into the hands of hundreds of golfers, and feedback has been superb. “SkyTrak has also been as popular as ever, with the surge of interest set to build still further when we unveil our autumn SkyTrak promotion, which runs from mid-October to the end of the year. “We can’t wait to greet the ten teams when they reach Morocco, and we look forward to a hard-fought battle for the trophy.” You can follow progress in the 2017 SkyCaddie PGA Pro-Captain Challenge in association with Golfplan on the PGA’s website at www.pga.info.
