GOLFERS PRAY FOR LIONS GLORY AT WEST LONDON GOLF CENTRE

NORTHOLT, WEST LONDON … Golfers in West London will become avid rugby fans, this weekend and next.

What’s at stake? Thousands of free golf range balls at one of the UK’s newest golf centres.

An Australian may have won The Masters but their cricket team and tennis players aren’t what they used to be, and this summer’s spate of Aussie-baiting by us Brits continues this weekend when the British & Irish Lions start their three-Test Series down under.

At the West London Golf Centre (www.westlondongolfcentre.com), near Northolt, a Lions series victory will mean 200 free balls at the driving range for every golfer who enters a free promotion before the Second Test on June 29th.

And one lucky golfer will win a whole YEAR’s supply of balls – 50 per day, or a whopping 18,250 in total!

“ Never mind birdies – this weekend and next we want bodies on the line and no surrender in the scrum” says the West London Golf Centre’s Ceri Menai Davis. “We’re all sports fans here, and any opportunity to celebrate a victory over the Aussies – any Aussies – is always welcome. So we thought we’d put our balls on the line, literally, and give away bucketloads to our loyal customers if the Lions get a Series win!”

The range balls only start to tumble if the Lions achieve a Win, which means two Lions victories out of three are needed to kickstart the promotion – a tough ask, given that it is 24 years since Finlay Calder’s 1989 Lions scored the last Series victory in Australia.

“ The bookies have The Lions as slight favourites for the Series” says Menai Davis, “but that counts for nothing in this weekend’s First Test in Brisbane. You can never underestimate the Wallabies, and with the Lions losing their midweek match yesterday in Canberra, it is going to be close all the way.”

Golfers can enter the Lions promotion for free at West London Golf Centre by filling in a simple form in The Coffee House, the range’s watering hole, or by completing an online form at www.westlondongolfcentre.com.

Ends.
