'POWERPLAY SHOOTOUT' IS A WORLD FIRST

TO ALL GOLF JOURNALISTS

On behalf of Peter McEvoy OBE and the team at PowerPlay Golf, we would like to invite you to attend a very special golf event.

It starts at 09:00 (coffee and snacks) with a pre-event presentation by Peter McEvoy at 10:00, followed by a Press Conference. Shotgun start for the main event is 11:00, with the Shootout itself scheduled for 13:00.

The Shootout is PowerPlay Golf's new 3-hour 'shotgun start' format, packaged for television.

24 players gather in threeballs on holes 1 to 8. After the shotgun start, the PowerPlay Golf event commences - but nobody plays the 9th. Instead, all players walk through the 9th hole and, when everyone has played 8 holes of PowerPlay Golf, all players congregate on the 9th tee for an instant 'cut'.

All golfers within 6 points of the leader, up to a max of 12 golfers, 'make the cut', and participate in the Shootout. This one-hole Shootout is played to normal PowerPlay Golf final-hole rules, in reverse order (IE: leader goes out last).

Players who are several points behind the leader will inevitably 'go for the black', but what will the leaders do? Go for the extra points on the black, risking the penalty points for a bogey, or will they play it safe and go for the white?

PowerPlay Golf (www.powerplay-golf.com) is the two-flag, ‘risk and reward’ golf format being rolled out around the golfing world. Players earn extra points for birdies or better when playing to the Black Flag, which is always in a difficult position on the green.

A round of PowerPlay Golf takes half the time of a normal 18-hole round. Peter McEvoy, OBE, the former Walker Cup captain and Great Britain’s most successful-ever amateur golfer, is one of the game’s co-creators.

PowerPlay Golf will be seen on TV this year at several European Tour events. It has been described by many as golf’s equivalent of Twenty20 Cricket.
