30 March 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Honma Tour World Wedge Is Exclusive To UK

  • UK is only country outside Far East to get new wedge
  • Classic hand-made teardrop shape wedge complements Tour World irons

In a European exclusive, British golfers are getting a bonus with the announcement that Honma’s latest wedge, the 2014 Tour World Wedge (TW-W), will sell in the UK from April.

TW-W, which is only being offered for sale in the Far East and the UK, has a classic teardrop shape with a long hosel, and a special grind flat sole on the higher lofts (56 and 58 degrees) for precise control on the shortest grass.

Developed on Tour by Team Honma’s staff players, the wedge offers a crisp contact and smooth flow through the shot on any type of lie, and promotes aggressive shot-making with maximum Tour levels of spin on both full approach shots and shorter chips and pitches.

The TW-W head looks square at address, even when the face is opened, to satisfy the needs of even the most advanced golfer. It is soft-cast in mild steel and has a stunning free-flowing chrome mirror finish. It is available in 50, 52, 56 and 58 degree models. The 50 and 52 have 9 degrees of bounce on the sole, with 13 degrees of bounce on the 56 and 58 degree models.

The Honma Tour World Wedge is fitted with a Dynamic Gold S200 shaft as standard, but UK customers can specify their choice of shaft when they visit their Honma stockist for a fitting.

“Tour World has quickly become Honma’s most popular range in the UK” said Honma UK spokesman Andy Hiseman. “But although we were offering the excellent Honma Beres W-105C Wedge to complement the irons, our customers were keen to play a wedge which was cut from the same cloth as the rest of the Tour World line, particularly lower-handicap golfers.

“So we are delighted to be able to bring this beautiful, high-performance Honma wedge to this country, as an exclusive treat for British golfers”.

Like all Honma golf equipment, the TW-W is hand-built to order in a single location – Honma’s Sakata studio, in northern Japan, where over 100 craftsmen work on every single club the company produces. Each TW-W clubhead is precisely finished, measured and balanced by hand.

The TW-W at last enables Honma’s many loyal customers in the UK to complete their set of Tour World clubs.

The high-performance Honma Tour World range was introduced in 2013, aimed at the mid-to low-handicapper, and includes three different forged iron head shapes – the blade TW717 M, and the cavity-back TW717V and P models. Honma Tour World also features three driver heads, four fairway woods and two utility clubs.

Ends.

ABOUT HONMA GOLF

www.honma.co.uk

Hiro Honma hand-built his first persimmon wood over 50 years ago, and over the years Honma’s Japanese craftsmen and women have perfected the art of making golf clubs, and the carbon graphite shafts which power them.

Honma’s meticulous approach is illustrated in every stage of a golf club’s life. No compromise is made at any stage, from initial design, through a manufacturing process in which at least 100 Honma craftsmen and women handle each club, to final checking and testing. Every single club is inspected by eye before it leaves Honma’s giant Sakata facility in northern Japan. Using state-of-the-art clubmaking technology, and the finest high-performance materials available, Honma Master Craftsmen add a uniquely human factor – decades of experience in the fine art of the golf club – to every piece of equipment the company produces. When you pick up a Honma golf club, you can be secure in the knowledge that skilled Japanese clubmakers have worked at length to craft it into the optimal piece of golf equipment.

Honma golf equipment sells throughout the UK at a select group of expert custom-fitters and clubmakers. Honma wedges and individual irons are available from £225, with putters from £325, utility clubs from £375 and fairway woods from £505. Drivers start at £910 and sets of Honma irons are available from £1,275.

Honma’s Star grading system enables golfers to select their preferred grade of carbon graphite shaft along with additional customisation options including head colour, shaft colour and the addition of 24 Karat gold and PT1000 platinum detailing and weights. 5-Star Honma drivers and fairway woods retail for £5,095 per club, with 5-Star Honma irons starting at £26,995 for a set of six clubs.
