Heythrop Park Announces John Cook School Of Golf
ENSTONE, OXFORDSHIRE, UK – Fast-growing Oxfordshire golf destination Heythrop Park Resort, on the edge of the Cotswolds, has added another attraction to its already impressive list of amenities with today’s announcement that the new John Cook School Of Golf will be based there.
In a 20-year coaching career, former European Tour golfer John Cook has been acclaimed by many of the game’s leading players and coaches as a true master of his profession.
Butch Harmon has said about John: “Some people are teachers, some are coaches, some are professors. John Cook is all of the above”. In 1984 Cook started coaching with his friend and mentor Gary Player, who has since said: “In my opinion, John Cook is one of the best golf coaches in the world, especially for the short game”.
Cook, who lives adjacent to Heythrop Park in the village of Enstone, will be joined by his son Mathew – also a successful European Tour golf coach – at his new School of Golf at Heythrop Park Resort.
“Heythrop Park has by far the best short game facility for teaching in Oxfordshire, and it is one of the top five in the South of England” said Cook. “And the greens here are magnificent, right now, in January. They are unbelievable quality for this early in the year, and a dream to play on if you want to learn to putt better.
”There really isn’t a shot which you can’t play at the Heythrop practice facility” he said. “And The Bainbridge Course at Heythrop Park Resort is not only the best golf course in the county, but it is one of the best in the entire Home Counties region”.
John and Mathew Cook will be coaching several Tour golfers at Heythrop Park in 2015, including Nontaya Srisawang, who will play on the LPGA Tour in 2015; Ladies European Tour golfer Titiya Plucksataporn; and big-hitting European Tour winner Kiradech Aphibarnat (Maybank Malaysian Open winner in 2013), who recently posted a 5th place finish in the Nedbank Golf Challenge in December 2014.
Derbyshire’s Bradley Moore, the English golfing prodigy who is already a two-time World Under-18 Champion and 2013 Peter McEvoy Trophy winner, is also coached by John Cook. He is expected to attend regular sessions at Heythrop Park before embarking on a crucial year in his amateur career, with a slot in the 2015 GB & Ireland Walker Cup team in his sights.
“John and Mathew are both highly respected worldwide as leading golf coaches, and this is exciting news for us” said Tim Good, Director of Golf, Leisure and Spa at Heythrop Park Resort.
“The arrival of the John Cook School Of Golf guarantees that elite golfers from across the Midlands and South of England will be frequent visitors to Heythrop Park Resort this year” he continued.
“We have just launched our new Academy and Gamestarter Memberships here at Heythrop Park, so golf coaching is core to us in 2015” said Good. ”We will also be starting a new series of Residential Golf Schools with John and Mathew, which we think will be highly popular with golfers across the UK given that as well as having some of the best practice facilities in England, we also have 282 excellent hotel rooms, wonderful spa and leisure facilities, and a 7,000 yard Tom Mackenzie championship golf course in an incredibly beautiful setting”.
But although John Cook, who has recently coached the Oxford University golf team to five successive victories against Cambridge University, is known for his extraordinary coaching skills with elite golfers, he is passionate about coaching golfers of all levels.
“My aim is to maximise the potential of every pupil, whether their goal is to finish in the Top 10 in a club competition, or to go on to be a superstar on the Amateur or Professional Tours” he said.
“Apart from improving their game, I always tell people to appreciate what a great sport they are involved in, and how important it is to have fun playing it”.
