GREENi launches Player Tracking on Tour “This involves spectators in a golf tournament like never before” says European Tour golfer Peter Lawrie CO. KILDARE, IRELAND … The new GREENi Tour App has launched on iTunes, bringing detailed player tracking technology to the Irish Open on the European Tour. The app gives golfers in-depth information about the tournament on their iPad, including the exact location of every player in the field, shown on a map of the Montgomerie Course at Carton House, Co. Kildare, which is hosting the tournament. This signals an end to the classic problem fans face at a golf tournament – there’s a group or a player I want to watch, but where are they, right now, on the golf course? The app also gives live scoring information, player profiles and live fan interaction from integrated Twitter and Facebook comments areas. "During the 2013 Irish Open the Greeni Live Player Tracking & Mapping will be in service," said Antonia Beggs, Championship Director. "This will help all the spectators to find their favourite golfers on the course; as previously used on The European Tour at the 2012 BMW PGA Championship and Dubai World Championships". Initially conceived to manage the speed of play at golf clubs, GREENi – which was developed in Finland – has evolved into an app that will forever change the way spectators encounter Tour golf. With the GREENi Tour App, fans need no longer guess where a player or a group is based on start time and holes played. Instead, they will have the information quite literally in the palm of their hands, as the course map on the GREENi Tour App displays the exact location of every group. “With the GREENi Tour App, golfers can enter a new level of immersion in a Tour event” said GREENi’s Global Ambassador, Irish golfer Peter Lawrie, who is playing this week. “Not only can they study the pace of play more accurately, and arrive at the right green at the right time to see their favourite player,” he said, “but with GREENi Tour they can also post Tournament-related updates on Facebook and Twitter, right there and then. This involves spectators in a golf tournament like never before.” The Golf Union of Ireland is supporting the integration of GREENi and clubs will be able to sign up to the service at preferential rates during the Irish Open. The iPad version of the GREENi Tour App is available as an iTunes download (search: “GREENi Tour”). Versions of the GREENi Tour App for other devices and platforms will be released shortly. The GREENi Club App is available for a variety of devices now, as a free download on iTunes and Google Play. Ends. SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS
