MCEVOY AND ROUND TO HEADLINE GCA ROADSHOW AT FIVE LAKES

Former Walker Cup captain Peter McEvoy OBE will talk to golf clubs at the latest Golf Consultants Association Roadshow, which takes place on Thursday 31st July at Five Lakes Hotel, Golf, Country Club and Spa – near Colchester, Essex

The amateur golf guru will explain his current role within British junior golf, and will also speak to delegates on the currently hot topic of PowerPlay Golf, the so-called 'two flag game' which has raised comparisons with Twenty20 Cricket.

The Roadshow, the latest in the GCA's popular series of regional 'Profit From Golf' networking events, is supported once again by Ransomes Jacobsen EZGO.

The format, where delegates take part in Q&A sessions after seeing a series of brief presentations on current golf business issues, is designed to stimulate lively debates on the day, and enables delegates to access good business advice which they can use immediately at their own golf clubs.

The packed agenda at the Five Lakes Roadshow begins with the keynote speech by Golf Foundation Chief Executive, Mike Round, who will describe how the growth of golf in schools is having a positive impact on golf clubs throughout England. Round will also show how delegates can access funding for their golf club.

Anyone from the golf industry can attend the event, which costs just £40 including lunch. The Roadshow lasts half a day, starting at 09:00, reducing the time delegates need to spend away from their businesses. Delegates will also meet several members of the Golf Consultants Association team, who will be on hand to dispense free on-the-spot advice on a variety of issues.

Also speaking at Five Lakes is Golf PR specialist Andy Hiseman, who will reveal ten low-cost golf marketing tips for all clubs to consider.

Roger Davey of Irritech will give clubs advice on managing their water resources, and Tony Scott of Sports Marketing Surveys will talk about attracting short break golf tourists. Scott will also reveal key facts about the current golf travel market.

And golf property expert Mark Smith will reveal tricks that golf clubs and operators can use to reduce their rates bills. Smith will also cover a number of property issues related to golf courses, such as landfill and accessing extra revenue, and he will help delegates ensure they are in a good position to prepare for the forthcoming rates revaluation that golf clubs are facing.

GCA Chairman Ian Bulleid said: “Our previous regional Roadshows have been well attended, with delegates getting great value for money both in terms of making new contacts and in the practical advice which our presentations provide. With a superb line-up of speakers next Thursday, I believe the Five Lakes event will be our best yet."

Places are limited at the Roadshow. For more information on the GCA Roadshows or to book a place at the Five Lakes event, contact Jacqui Baldwin at the Golf Consultants Association on 02476 414999 x207, or email gca@sportsandplay.com
