Mocklow connecting with members at Batchworth Park

RICKMANSWORTH, HERTS, UK - - The charismatic new man in command at Batchworth Park Golf Club, Anthony Mocklow, has brought a confidence-inspiring personal style to the private members club.

The Bermuda-born professional golfer and hospitality specialist put a series of new ideas at the top of his to-do list when he took over as General Manager earlier this year.

He immediately introduced innovations such as unlimited still and sparkling mineral water for members at a new hydration station, and environmental measures such as the elimination of single-use plastics from the club.

Mocklow also consulted extensively with the club’s members about long-term plans for the club’s picturesque Dave Thomas-designed golf course.

“Members have an emotional connection with their golf club” said the 53-year old, “so naturally I wanted to try and make a similar emotional connection with those members as quickly as I could. I met with many of them soon after I arrived.

“Batchworth Park has long been known as one of the area’s most private golf clubs, and it enjoys a reputation for being a highly desirable membership. We have a much-loved golf course, and it is a haven if you love your golf as much as our members do.

“I saw that the club already delivers great service, food and course conditions, but we won’t rest on our laurels – the sky’s the limit as far as I am concerned, at Batchworth Park.”

In his teens Anthony Mocklow won a golf scholarship to Houston Baptist University where European Tour legend Colin Montgomerie was a team mate. After trying his hand at Tour golf for a few seasons he came to the UK in 1991 and spent most of the following 18 years in the UK golf industry before returning to his native Bermuda in 2009 to take the role of Director of Golf at The Fairmont Southampton Resort and Turtle Hill Golf Club on the island. While there he created the event now known as The Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship, and he has become known as one of the golfing world’s leading proponents of short-course golf.

He now lives in Pinner, Middlesex, close to his new club. A passionate golfer since childhood, Mocklow is also a food & wine connoisseur, educated in the art of cookery by his restaurant-owning parents and after working with internationally-renowned chefs in the high-end world of luxury resort golf.

Mocklow believes passionately that the high dining standards at Batchworth Park are crucial to the club’s fortunes going forwards.
