TV's Brighty issues FootGolf Challenge
CROYDON, SURREY, UK .. Ex-Premier League footballer and popular TV & radio pundit Mark 'Brighty' Bright has issued a challenge to South Londoners – “come and take me on at FootGolf”. On Sunday 7th September the former Crystal Palace FC legend is preparing to take on all-comers at Addington Court Golf Centre, in the first Challenge Brighty FootGolf event at London’s first specially-designed 18-hole FootGolf course. “FootGolf is tremendous fun” said Brighty, who scored 209 goals in over 500 appearances, and holds a hot 9.6 handicap at golf. “On my first 18 holes of FootGolf I scored a hole in one – which is something I haven’t done yet on the golf course! “So come and Challenge Brighty – we have some great prizes to win”. In FootGolf, a new sport which is sweeping the nation, your aim is to kick a full-sized football into a series of 18 holes in as few shots as possible – just like golf. The sport has become so popular at Addington Court GC that the club now has its own permanent FootGolf course which runs alongside the club’s three other golf courses. In September’s event the Premier League star will play one hole with each team, and any player who beats Brighty’s score on the day will have their name entered into a hat. Mark Bright will make the draw, to win a personalised ‘Bright 9’ Crystal Palace home shirt signed by the man himself, plus other prizes including signed Premier League footballs. There’s also a fun fancy dress element – Brighty will be awarding prizes for sartorial elegance, with best-dressed team and best-dressed player awards up for grabs. Players will first meet Mark Bright when registration begins at 12 noon, with a large crowd expected on the first tee for the official 1pm kick-off. Prize-giving is scheduled for 5pm. With over 150 players expected to take part, the event should be full of atmosphere. The event is open to both sexes, with no age restrictions, and it represents ideal opportunity for newcomers to try the sport for the first time. “FootGolf is for everyone” said Mark Bright. “It isn’t as easy as you think, even though the holes are much larger than a normal golf hole, but rest assured there’s no running or tackling!” Booking is essential. Call Addington Court Golf Centre on 020 8657 0281 to claim a place in Challenge Brighty for you and your friends. Entry fee is £25 per player, and up to eight friends can play in each group. Ends. |
