ENGLAND’S ORIGINAL ‘PAY & PLAY’ COURSE INTRODUCES £9.99 GOLF CROYDON, SURREY, UK ..England’s original purpose-built ‘pay and play’ public golf course, Addington Court Golf Centre in Croydon, Surrey, has once again blazed a trail by introducing a £9.99 green fee for its popular Falconwood Course, from April 1st.The new rate applies to all rounds played on the course after 1pm, seven days a week. The previous rate of £13 was only applicable after 4pm, so the new price is not only almost 25% lower, but also more widely available. “ The Falconwood is a lovely golf course, not too difficult, and so it suits anyone who likes to play golf” said the club’s general manager Clive Hartley. “We think that reducing the price to just £9.99 after 1pm, every day, will make it an irresistibly simple deal for golfers in the Croydon area.” The Falconwood Course at Addington Court GC is 5,472 yards long, with a par of 68. The golf club also has an 18-hole Championship course, and a 9-hole Academy course. Originally designed in 1932 by distinguished golf architect Fred Hawtree, Addington Court was England’s first privately-run public golf course, and for fifty years was headquarters to Hawtree family’s golf course design firm. Now one of the south of England’s most comprehensive golf facilities, Addington Court GC also has a large golf driving range and academy, and two golf stores. In 2012 the club was Runner-Up in England Golf’s prestigious GolfMark Club Of The Year Awards, and in 2011 it won the Bonnallack Award, given by The Golf Foundation for its work with schools. More recently Addington Court won the 2012 Community Sport and Recreation Award, given by The Sport and Recreation Alliance – the third time in two years that the club was recognised for its schools and community golf work.
