FAQ / STATS: ST MELLION & THE ENGLISH OPEN The combined £100m redevelopment of St Mellion International Resort - and the hosting of The English Open there for the next five years – is one of the biggest golf projects currently underway in the UK. It will also produce a major economic uplift for Cornwall and, in particular the Caradon District. Here are some useful facts and figures about the project: The Nicklaus Signature Course at St Mellion International Resort Opened in 1988, The Nicklaus Signature Course at St Mellion International Resort was the first in the UK to be designed by the 18-time Major winning golfer Jack Nicklaus. Owners Crown Golf are well underway with a £2.5m course improvement programme ahead of next year’s English Open which includes: • 1,000 metres of new drainage The Hotel & other Accommodation The ‘old’ hotel at St Mellion International Resort has been demolished and in its place will be a new 80-bedroom 4-star standard hotel. In addition, 265 new homes are being built around the resort over a period of five years by Living Villages. The hotel is being equipped with: • 80 rooms Economic Impact • The total full time, part time,
casual and seasonal employment at St Mellion International Resort is estimated
to grow to 375 jobs by 2010.
